Field Note: The Human is Celebrating Something (Reluctantly)

Earlier today, I observed a rather peculiar situation. The human appears to be celebrating something... though she is making a very serious effort to pretend she is not. Other humans within the dwelling, however, are not cooperating. There have been: ⁕ mentions of cake (no cake has been produced) ⁕ mentions of candles (there is nothing to put them on, so one may simple be held, I assume) ⁕ an increasing number of "its your day" declarations There are also... more humans than usual gathered in shared spaces. This typically indicates an Event. Through careful observation and overheard conversation, I have determined the number in question is 39. This appears to be... significant. There was also a phrase repeated with great enthusiasm: "Lordy, lordy..." Followed by implications that the human is approaching the next numerical threshold. I do not fully understand why this causes such reactions. From my perspective, the human remains fully functional, continues to make things, and has not shown any signs of deterioration beyond occasional sighing. However, it does seem that: ⁕ 39 is acknowledged

⁕ 40 is to be approached with caution ⁕ and the years prior are to be... appreciated quickly. Curious. This appears to be a ritual disguised as a celebration. The human insists she prefers things to be minimal. Quiet. Unfussy. This is... fascinating. Because I have personally witnessed the dining room. It is no longer a dining room. It is a fully operational studio/workshop/store filled with an impressive quantity of things and stuff-- most of which are, apparently, made for other humans. So while she claims to prefer simplicity... I remain unconvinced. There are also other feline presences in this space. They appear... less invested in the situation. I will continue observing.
