On Stepping Outside: A Grounding Practice in Letting Things Go

Bare feet leaving light footprints in dewy grass during a quiet grounding practice outdoors

There are moments that do not begin with intention.

They begin with a feeling. This is how a grounding practice begins.

A heaviness.

A restlessness.

Something that does not quite settle.

🌿 In those moments—

I step outside.

No tools.

No preparation.

Only ground.

🌙 Feet against earth.

Not always perfectly comfortable.

Not always warm.

But real.

🕯️ And then—

the breath.

In.

And a little more, at the top.

Held.

Counted.

Not rushed.

✨ Released slowly.

Letting go of what does not stay.

What does not need to be carried further.

🌿 And then again.

The second breath is different.

Not for release—

but for space.

For what may come in.

For what is allowed now that something else has left.

🌙 There is no requirement for words.

But sometimes they arrive anyway.

Softly.

Without needing to be perfect.

✨ This is not always called a ritual.

It is not always named.

It is not always shared.

🌿 And yet—

it is repeated.

A cat joining a grounding moment outside, brushing close during a quiet pause on the grass.

🌙 Sometimes alone.

Sometimes beside another.

Quietly mirroring the same motion.

The same breath.

The same pause.

✨ Not everything that grounds you needs to be taught.

Some things are simply… remembered.

🌿 The body knows.

The breath knows.

The earth does not need explanation.

✨You step outside.

And something shifts.
